1. Introduction
Blip AI ("Blip AI", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our voice dictation desktop application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not access or use the Services.
If you have questions about this Policy at any time, you can contact us at privacy@blipai.app.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories:
A. Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Name (optional)
- Account preferences and settings
B. Voice & Dictation Data
When you use Blip AI for voice dictation, audio is temporarily transmitted to our transcription providers for processing. Audio is processed by our transcription providers and deleted shortly after processing in accordance with their retention policies. This audio data is:
- Encrypted in transit using TLS
- Processed securely by our transcription providers
- Not retained by us after transcription completes
- Never used to train AI models without your explicit consent, or unless it is fully anonymized and aggregated
- Never sold or shared with third parties for commercial purposes
Your transcribed text output is delivered directly to your device and is not stored on Blip AI servers. As a convenience, the app stores your last 3 transcripts locally on your device only — this data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
C. Context Awareness Data (Optional Opt-In)
If you enable the optional Context Awareness feature, the app may analyze limited on-screen text locally on your device to improve transcription suggestions and recognize contextually relevant terms. This processing:
- Happens locally on your device — the raw screen content is not transmitted to our servers
- Is used solely to improve transcription accuracy in the moment
- Is never stored after the dictation session ends
- Is never shared with third parties
You can turn Context Awareness on or off at any time from within the application settings. When it is off, no on-screen content is analyzed.
D. Usage & Technical Data
We automatically collect technical information about your use of the Services, including:
- Application version and operating system
- Error logs and crash reports (no personal data included)
- Feature usage statistics (anonymized)
- Performance metrics (e.g., transcription latency)
- IP addresses, which may be logged for security and fraud prevention purposes
- Device type and identifiers
E. Payment Information
When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled entirely by our third-party payment processor. We do not directly collect or store your credit card numbers, banking information, or sensitive financial information. We only retain billing records such as transaction IDs, plan type, and billing dates for accounting and customer support purposes.
F. Communications Data
If you contact us for support or voluntarily participate in surveys or beta programs, we collect the information you provide in those communications (e.g., your email and the content of your message) solely to respond to you and improve our Services.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Service Operation: To provide, maintain, and improve the voice dictation service
- Transcription: To process your audio and return transcribed text to your device
- Account Management: To manage your account, subscriptions, and billing
- Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries and resolve issues
- Security & Fraud Prevention: To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access
- Service Improvement: To use anonymized usage data to improve accuracy and reliability
- Communication: To send service-related notifications (e.g., account alerts, policy changes)
- Marketing: To send promotional emails — you can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or court orders
Our lawful basis for processing personal data under GDPR includes: performance of a contract (to provide the Services), legitimate interests (improving the product, security), legal obligations, and your consent (for optional features like marketing emails or model training).
4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to analyze traffic, remember your preferences, and improve your experience. Types of cookies we use:
- Essential Cookies: Required for the website and app to function (e.g., authentication sessions)
- Analytics Cookies: Anonymized data to understand how visitors use our website (e.g., Google Analytics)
- Preference Cookies: To remember your settings and preferences
You can control cookies through your browser settings or by using an opt-out browser add-on (e.g., the Google Analytics Opt-Out Add-on). Note that disabling essential cookies may affect core functionality.
5. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information in the following circumstances:
Service Providers
We work with trusted third-party vendors who assist in operating the Services (e.g., cloud infrastructure, payment processing, analytics, customer support). These providers are contractually bound to use your data only to perform services on our behalf and cannot use it for their own commercial purposes.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to a valid legal request (e.g., a court order or government subpoena), or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Blip AI, its users, or the public.
Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
With Your Consent
We may share your information with third parties when you have given explicit consent for us to do so.
6. Data Retention
We retain different types of data for different periods of time:

| Support communications | Up to 3 years after last contact |
When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it. Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for product analytics.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard safeguards to protect your information:
- Encryption in Transit: All data is encrypted using TLS/SSL when transmitted between your device and our servers
- Encryption at Rest: We use industry-standard security measures including encryption where appropriate to protect stored data
- No Permanent Audio Storage: Voice recordings are processed by our providers and are not retained by us after transcription
- Access Controls: Strict role-based access controls limit which staff or systems can access data
- Regular Security Reviews: We conduct periodic security audits and vulnerability assessments
However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have various rights regarding your personal data. Regardless of location, we honor the following rights for all users:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Restriction: Request that we limit how we process your data
- Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent (e.g., marketing emails)
GDPR — EU / EEA Residents
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including those listed above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (DPA).
We transfer your data to the United States for processing. Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms to ensure adequate protection.
CCPA — California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you additional rights, including:
- The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell
- The right to delete personal information we hold about you
- The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (Note: we do not sell your data)
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at privacy@blipai.app. We will respond within 45 days.
To exercise any of your rights, please contact us at privacy@blipai.app. We may need to verify your identity before responding to your request. We aim to respond within 30 days.
9. Third-Party Services & Links
The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any information.
We work with select third-party service providers to operate the Services, including:
- Cloud Infrastructure: For secure audio processing and hosting
- Payment Processing: For handling subscription billing (we do not store card data)
- Analytics: For anonymized usage insights (no personal voice data shared)
- Customer Support Tools: For managing support tickets and communications
- Error Monitoring: For crash reporting and application stability (no voice data included)
All service providers are vetted for security and privacy compliance and are under contractual obligations to protect your data and use it only as directed by us.
10. Children's Privacy
Blip AI is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at privacy@blipai.app and we will promptly delete it.
11. International Data Transfers
Blip AI is based in the United States. If you are accessing our Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
For users in the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where required to ensure that data transfers are conducted in compliance with applicable law.
12. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, where required by applicable law (e.g., GDPR). Where the breach is also likely to result in a high risk to you personally, we will notify affected users without undue delay.
User notification will be sent to the email address associated with your account and, where relevant, communicated through a prominent notice on our website or within the application. The notification will describe the nature of the breach, the data affected, the likely consequences, and the steps we have taken or are taking to address it.
13. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals websites you visit that you do not want to have your online activity tracked. Because there is no consistent industry standard for responding to DNT signals, our website does not currently alter its behavior in response to DNT signals.
However, you can manage cookies and tracking preferences directly through our cookie settings or via your browser settings. California residents may also use the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which we honor as an opt-out of data sales (note: we do not sell your data).
14. Automated Decision-Making & Profiling
Blip AI does not make any decisions about you based solely on automated processing (including profiling) that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Your account status, subscription tier, and usage limits are determined by your plan selection and usage counters, not by automated profiling of personal characteristics.
If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify you before any such automated decision-making comes into effect, and we will provide you with the right to request human review of any such decision.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Post the revised policy on this page
- Send an email notification for significant changes that materially reduce your rights
We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of Blip AI after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
